9/30/22 – WEEKLY UPDATE from the JH-HS

Good afternoon Lennox JH-HS Students, Parents and Guardians:

 NO SCHOOL – October 7 and October 10

 Daily Attendance

Please be sure to call the JH-HS office if your student will be late, needs to leave early or will be gone for the entire day due to illness, appointments, etc.  Darci Granum – Attendance Secretary – 647-2203 (ext. 5001)

 Senior Graduation and Sophomore Class Ring

Sophomore Class Rings and Senior Graduation orders can be placed on the Jostens website: Lennox High School | Jostens

 Home Events: All students are asked to sit in the stands/bleachers and cheer for the Lennox Orioles.

 State Science Test Scores

9th grade and 12th grade students received their State Science Test Results in school this week.  They should have been delivered to you on Thursday or Friday.  Please let us know if you need another copy of the results.

 ACT Prep Classes

Session 1 will be on Sunday, October 2, from 1-5pm in the HS Cafeteria.  Session 1 is a practice test, so students should bring their calculator and pencils.  Session 2 will be on October 23 from 1-5pm.

 Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be on October 6 from 1-9pm. 

 Student Flu Shots – see pages 4-6 for the sign-up form.  Turn forms into your school office.

The South Dakota Department of Health will be administering free flu shots to students in grades preschool -12th grade in the morning on Wednesday, October 19th at the following locations:

          Lennox Elementary/Intermediate- 8:00-10:00

          Worthing Elementary- 9:00-10:00

          Junior High/High School- 10:30-12:00

FAFSA Information

Mr. Breske will host a College Financial Aid session at 6pm, on October 6, for Senior students and parents.

College Visits for JUNIORS – See Mr. Breske if interested – limited to 35 students for each college – see pages 2-3

     Sioux Falls Specialty Hospital – Oct. 1             Southeast Technical College - Oct. 6

 PSAT            

This is an optional test for Juniors that is a great way to practice for the ACT and SAT. The PSAT test could also qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship program. We are planning on administering the PSAT on October 12th, starting at 8:30 AM and wrapping up around 11:00 AM. The deadline to sign up is September 30th. Please let Mr. Breske know if you would like to sign up.

 ASVAB

This is also an optional test. Are you interested in the military? The ASVAB is the perfect way to see what kind of jobs you could qualify for if you entered the military. It is also a great way to gain knowledge about student’s interests and skills to help match you with a career choice after high school. We will be administering the ASVAB on October 28th at 8:30 AM. Please sign up with Mr. Breske. The Deadline to sign up is October 21st.

SD College Access Campaign (October 3rd – November 30th)

Senior Students’ application fees are waived during this period to any South Dakota College or Tech School.

 School Counselor Update:  Mr. Breske now has a fully functional website that includes important information regarding Dual Credit, Scholarships, College Visits and more. It is updated frequently so make sure to check it out whether your student is a Freshman or a Senior!
